Itel launches 5 new smartphones for under R2000 in South Africa

Itel has launched five new smartphones in South Africa, with each device costing under R2000.

This follows the launch of other affordable devices in May, when Itel’s sister brand launched the Spark 10 series in South Africa.

Both companies are owned by the manufacturer Transsion Holdings.

Here’s a look at the new devices from Itel and how much they cost.

Itel P40 smartphone

The Itel P40 is the headliner of the new batch of smartphones and comes equipped with a large 6000mAh battery. According to Itel, this gives the smartphone up to three days of use with a single charge.

It is also one of the largest of the new devices, featuring a 6.6-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate.

Other features include an octa-core processor, 2GB of built-in RAM and 2GB of extended RAM, a 13MP main camera, and an 8MP selfie camera.

The phone supports both Face Unlock and a fingerprint sensor.

The Itel P40 is available in South Africa for a recommended retail price of R1,999. The phone is available from Itel’s retail partners, including Mr Price and Pep.

Itel A04

The Itel A04 is a more affordable option, featuring a 6.3-inch display, 4000mAh battery, and 2GB of RAM.

It also has a 5MP dual camera, as well as both fingerprint and facial recognition.

The Itel A04 has a recommended price of R1,299 in South Africa.

Itel A18

The A18 is the most affordable of the new devices, which Itel says is for “the extremely budget conscious”.

It features a 5-inch display, 5MP main camera, 2MP selfie camera, and dual SIM functionality.

The phone is available for a recommended price of R899.

Itel A60 and A60S smartphones

While these phones were announced alongside the other devices, the A60 and A60S are set to become available in South Africa from July.

Their specs are closer to that of the P40. Both phones feature a 6.6-inch HD+ display, 5000mAh battery, and 2GB of built-in RAM with 2GB extended RAM.

They also both feature an 8MP dual main camera.

The A60S features more onboard storage, with 64GB of ROM. Meanwhile, the A60 includes 32GB of onboard storage.

The Itel A60S has a recommended retail price of R1,699, while the A60 has a recommended price of R1,499.
