Honor has announced the launch of its Honor 90 and Honor 90 Lite smartphones in South Africa.

The launch event took place in Sandton on 23 August 2023, where the company showcased the devices.

Here are the details you should know about the phones and their local pricing.

Honor 90 features

The Honor 90 is a new premium addition to the smartphone company’s line-up in South Africa.

The device boasts a 200MP triple lens setup for its main camera (200MP lens + 12MP ultra-wide lens + 2MP depth lens) and a 50MP front-facing camera.

It is powered by a Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 Accelerated Edition and 12GB of RAM, plus 7GB of extended RAM.

It opts for a bolder design, featuring a Lunar Phase Ring design for the camera lenses and a curved 6.7-inch AMOLED display. Its Diamond Silver version includes a diamond grid pattern on the lower two-thirds of its cover. But you can also opt for the simpler Midnight Black version.

Its 5000mAh battery is supported by 66W super fast charging, which Honor says can charge the battery to 20% in 5 minutes.

Honor 90 Lite features

The Lite is the more affordable entry into the Honor 90 series, but it still includes 5G support, which goes some way towards future-proofing it.

It also includes a 6.7-inch display, but opts for a screen with a flat design.

The Honor 90 Lite also features a 100MP main camera setup. This includes a 100MP main lens, 5MP ultra-wide and depth lens, and a 2MP macro lens.

Meanwhile, the front-facing camera has a resolution of 16MP.

The device comes in two colours: Cyan Lake and Titanium Silver.

The Honor 90 has a recommended retail price of R14,999. It is also bundled with a free Honor Watch 4, which is valued at R3,499.

The Honor 90 Lite has a recommended retail price of R7,999 and comes bundled with a free set of Honor X5 Lite Buds.
