Huawei has launched its premium, fashion-forward Watch GT 4 series of smartwatches in South Africa, bringing its latest wearables to the country.

So what should you know about the smartwatch series and how much will it cost in South Africa?

Huawei Watch GT 4 smartwatch features

The Huawei Watch GT 4 comes in two sizes: 46mm and 41mm. If you’re looking for a large design with a more classic timepiece appearance, the 46mm variant features with an octagonal design as well as multiple colours.

The 46mm version comes in a classic brown leather strap version, a more striking Rainforest Green GMT, and a simpler Black Rubber Strap model.

Meanwhile, the 41mm version takes on a sleeker pendant design, with a White Leather Strap Variant and a Two-tone Piano Key bracelet. There is also a Black Strap version for those who want a more traditional smartwatch design.

The size differences do affect battery life. The 46mm version has a maximum battery life of 14 days, with a regular battery life of 8 days.

The 41mm version, on the other hand, lasts for about 4 days with regular use and has a maximum battery life of 7 days.

Both versions feature an AMOLED HD colour screen, with the 41mm version including a slightly higher pixel density at 352 PPI. The 46mm has a pixel density of 326 PPI.

When it comes to smart features, however, both versions bring users a wide range of capabilities.

These include pulse wave arrhythmia analysis, GPS, Bluetooth calling, and heart rate analysis. Huawei’s Health app has also undergone a few updates that enable the device to deliver Sleep Breathing Analysis and Smart Cycle Calendar features.

If you’re worried about compatibility, you can rest easy knowing that the smartwatches are compatible with both iOS and Android devices. You simply need to download the Huawei Health app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store to link your device and access its features.

Huawei Watch GT 4 price for South Africa

Available in stores from 6 October 2023, the Huawei Watch GT 4 has a recommended retail price of R6,999 in South Africa.
